growfood is a twelve-month city-wide campaign designed to mobilise Gloucester residents, community organisations, schools, and businesses to grow, share, and celebrate food. Launching on 1st July 2026, the campaign is timed deliberately to build food resilience ahead of the hunger gap the period between January and April when food poverty bites hardest and locally grown produce is scarcest.
Against a backdrop of rising food costs, global supply chain instability, and growing food insecurity in the UK, our campaign positions Gloucester as a city that responds collectively and practically. Delivered by We are Project Grow CIC, the campaign will produce measurable community impact, a city-wide growing map, citizen science data collection, and a compelling evidence base for future funding.
